For the night owls

There were no fisherman out and the fish seemed to know it, there was a lot of feeding and spawning activities in all areas on all sizes. On the evening walk today we noticed the bats are out for the first time. There were only a few and they were swooping low over the clear ditch. Chances are they are roosting under the iron bridge. However, I remember that on the bosque, a lot of bats live in small groups in the holes of the old cottonwoods. Those mammals are certainly not easy to photograph on the move.

It was great this evening to hear and watch these two great horned owls. They were hooting and watching the prey birds, like ducks and doves coming in to roost. When you know they are there they are pretty obvious,;they have large white throat band. Their huge square wings are silent in flight .
This picture came out badly, but it was meant to show how the grasses are seeding. There seems to be a lot of varieties out right now. The hot dry weather is making things feel more like summer.
