This strange pattern in the water is actually heron poop. The white protein is because the birds do not produce liquid urine (it weighs too much). It looks like an egg to me.
It's nice to see a color that is no longer browns and greys. This filamentous algae is probably the reason the frogs are bright green. Frogs can actually be many colors from grey to brown to almost black, depending on the color of the background.
There is a big influx of bluebirds right now probably because of a sudden burst of insects hatching.
I was interested to see the ducks were not flying up in alarm as I approached. Then I looked up and noticed (as the ducks had) that the situation was being watched by a red tailed hawk. This hawk can't snatch a duck close to the water surface, but it would love to catch a struggling duck unawares in the sky.
I actually don't know what sort of bug this one is. Still, the new bug season is a welcome break from nothing but bird photos for three months.
This moth was one of the first species to appear at night as the day temps rise above 55 degrees. Many others should begin to appear soon.
